Sara joined chambers as a tenant in 2014, after successfully completing her pupillage under the supervision of Geraint Walters (Crime) and Alison Donovan (Family).

Prior to commencing pupillage Sara worked as a paralegal at a personal injury law firm in Cardiff.

Sara now enjoys a broad practice, taking on family cases, both public and private, criminal cases in the Crown Court and Magistrates Court as well as civil and regulatory work.

Practice areas

Family law

Sara has a busy family law practice, accepting instructions in private and public law proceedings. Sara is often before the family court but has also represented a Mother, who has previously been a litigant in person in successfully appealing to a Circuit Judge. Sara expresses an interest in court of protection work having been involved in providing training to Swansea County Council and accepts instructions in this area.

Sara is mainly instructed in private family law proceedings and therefore has a wealth of experience in representing Mothers and Fathers as both applicants and respondents. Sara also regularly deals with non-molestation applications.

Criminal law

Sara practices criminal law in both the Crown Court and the Magistrates Court. Sara has conducted trials before a jury in the Crown Court on a number of occasions for the CPS and for defendants.

In the Magistrates Court, Sara has prosecuted many trials for the CPS and has defended clients charged with common assault, theft and harassment. Sara has previously defended a health care worker who was charged with assaulting a patient in his care. After a successful trial, the defendant was found not guilty.

Sara is a Grade 1 Prosecutor on the CPS panel.

Civil law

Regulatory law

Sara is regularly instructed to appear before NMC and HCPC disciplinary panels. Sara has represented paramedics, health visitors and nurses charged with a variety of allegations ranging from medication errors to capability issues.

Inquests

Sara is often instructed to appear on behalf of interested parties at inquests, both in Swansea and further afield and has experience of representing families of the deceased and the police.
