David qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and worked within the family department of a well known local Law Firm specialising in childcare and family disputes.

David moved to the Local Authority in 2015 where he continued to work in the childcare department. His role involved acting on behalf of Children’s Services until 2017 when he transferred to the Bar to further pursue his advocacy ambitions.

Since qualification as a solicitor he has appeared as an advocate in a range of tribunals within family proceedings.

Family law

David is an experienced family practitioner specialising in proceedings concerning children. He undertakes public and private work at all levels up to and including the High Court.

Public Law

David represents Local Authorities, parents, Guardians , Interveners and children at all levels. He is experienced in cases involving serious physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. David also has experience in dealing with cases of adoption breakdowns and complex care planning.

Having worked as a solicitor he has an extensive knowledge of the decision making and day to day functioning of childcare cases from the early stages to the finality of proceedings. He has represented parties on all sides of the dispute and has gained extensive experience of the competing interests of all involved, combined with a practical approach to solving the problems these cases present.

Private Law

David represents parents and guardians in all types of private law children disputes including applications to remove from the jurisdiction and cases involving serious allegations of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. David also deals with applications for injunctions in cases involving domestic violence and the impact of parental conduct on contact.
